School's out! x BKK trip

School's out! Time for every other nonsensical things life has in store for me!

Haven't been updating this space due to all the crazy workload(and mostly my own laziness), but I'll try t do so more often now that i've more free time to spare!

So Grace and I went on a spontaneousness trip to Bangkok immediately right after her exams on friday! Damn talking about #yolo lol. So basically we as a typical Singaporean youngsters, we shop and eat all day, errrrri-day.  Went around the city trying out the local street stall has got to be the most rewarding part of this trip! So much hidden gem! I should probably do a proper post on the goodies in bkk someday but here's some photos for all you hungry people out there!

One of the streetsnacks I found around Pratunam. It's like your eggroll wrapped with minced pork and cheese sausage. Quite an interesting mixture of savoury and sweetness haha.

My all time favourite in Bangkok! They are so tasty i would eat a dozen everytime I'm in bangkok lol. just kidding, I dont eat that many but I do grab them every time I have the chance to. Oh and I even bought them back to Singapore w me. Bringing my kiasu-ism to a whole new level #proudsingaporean.

How could we miss going to the famous After you cafe right?! There are outlets all around the city but the most popular one with tourist has to be the one at Siam Paragon due to it's accessibility. I would actually advise those instagrammes who wants a nicer shot to visit the outlet at the mall opposite Paragon or the Thonglor outlet as they have windows that allow natural light. Well, just saying lah, I went to the Siam paragon outlet and the food still taste awesome anyway. This time round we forsake the usual honey toast and lava cake since we both have tried them before. Ordered the Ferreo toast and Soft baked sundae. The sundae tasted like Ice-cream on melted cookies but in a good way lol. Simillar to subway cookies but way more soft and yummier. But the Ferrero toast wasn't quite what I expected, I still prefer the Honey Toast lah, just a personal preference (:
Found these special Halloween Macarons at Napat Cafe located in Chatuchak and they have the cutest macarons in bangkok!. Aparently the owner is also a social media junkie and she update her instagram with all the super yummy food photos you can get in bangkok!  You can check her out at @aum_napat on instagram!

Pad thai at the Platinum Mall food court cause both of us were to lazy to go out after the whole day of shopping. The noodles in gravy turn out to be quite yummy!

Tadaa, my all time favourite lunch spot in Chatuchak. They have the best garlic pork! This is something I must have everytime I'm there too. zomg I can eat 2 plates of this at one go please lol.

We travelled down Thonglor wanting to have the famous crabmeat wanton mee but sadly the uncle is no longer selling over at the usual spot. So we tried the new stall and ordered tom yam from the stall beside, and they turned out to be pretty nice too! Having tom-yam in rainy weather just makes everything less gloomy.
Last but not least, SabSab wanton mee! This place is popular with tourist for their wanton mee and pork trotter. They only open from 9am to 3pm and it's always filled with hungry people. Good thing is the staff actually speaks chinese so tourist need not worry about ordering from them!

Alright, writing this photo-heavy post is sucking all that little remaining energy out of me. Shall end off the post with a photo of us. Thank you auntie for the happy trip! Looking forward to the next one! *p/s: the sun was so bright we could barely open our eyes loh.

Till next time (soon i promise :x)

PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES

Hello guys!
I've been trying out baking for awhile now and I've requests from friends to share the recipes so I thought why not just share it with everyone right? (:
Disclaimer: Please don't blame me if it didn't turn out to be as yummy as you expected, these are good enough for me but maybe not for you, oh well, personal preferences yeah? (:

So last thursday I made some Dark-Chocolate cupcakes with Peanut-Butter Frosting to bring along for the photoshoot in the afternoon. It turned out pretty well! The cupcake was oh so yummehh but the peanut butter frosting was more of a sweeter side so do alter the recipe to your own liking if you prefer something less sweet!

INGREDIENTS:

DARK CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES (makes 12 cupcakes)
  • 115g unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces (around 60g) semi-sweet baking chocolate
  • 50g unsweetened cocoa powder (not Dutch processed)
  • 95g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature*
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 60g light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 120ml buttermilk**
PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING (makes 12 servings)
  • 85g butter, softened
  • 195g creamy peanut butter
  • 35ml of milk
  • 190g of icing sugar

DIRECTIONS:

FOR CUPCAKES
Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Line a 12-cup cupcake/muffin pan with cupcake liners. Set aside.

Melt the butter and chocolate together in the microwave. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between each time. You may also melt the butter and chocolate over low heat on the stovetop. Stir until smooth and set aside to slightly cool.
In a medium sized bowl, toss the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together until thoroughly combined. Set aside. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla together until smooth. Add the cooled butter/chocolate and whisk until smooth. Add half of the flour mixture, then half of the buttermilk. Repeat until everything is added. Stir until *just* combined; do not overmix. The batter will be very thick like pudding.
Divide the batter between 12 liners in your cupcake pan. Bake for 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
FOR FROSTING
Place the butter and peanut butter into a medium bowl, and beat with an electric mixer. Gradually mix in the sugar, and when it starts to get thick, incorporate milk one tablespoon at a time until all of the sugar is mixed in and the frosting is thick and spreadable. Beat for at least 3 minutes for it to get good and fluffy.

* Room temperature is needed for this recipe! Just leave the eggs out in the room for 10-15 mins for it to reach room temperature.

** To make buttermilk, just mix 2 teaspoons of milk and fill up with plain yoghurt till it hits a cup. Mix well and use as substitute for buttermilk!
Do let me know if you tried the recipes and update me how did it go! Hope you guys will like it! :D
Till then!

#guyswardrobe: budget shopping!

Hello guys! Have been receiving questions from my friends recently about the places where I do my shopping and where do I get all the money for them. Must say they are not really convinced when I told them I don't spend a lot even though I admit I have an "unusual" quantity of clothes in my wardrobe lol. In actual fact, I usually only shop the "good" deals or in other words, cheaper-than-usual deals. In the past I would spend a lot to buy the big brands in hoping of wearing them will cover up for the lack of self-esteem and boost my "attractiveness" (which is literally nonexistence i know) but I came to realised that looking good doesn't really have to mean spending on all the expensive stuff!(i do slurge and pamper myself once in a while lah) So here in this blogpost I'm going to share a few lookbook inspirations I've chances upon and also provide links to affordable alternatives I found over at the ASOS Summer Sale so you can get the whole look for less than 100SGD! (or even way cheaperrr ) #goodthingsmustshare

I believe majority of us have heard of ASOS but probably not all have tried ordering from them before as guys are usually skeptical of online shopping, not sure of the sizing, material and shipping etc. So fret not! I've personally shop with ASOS for the longest time I can remember and the quality of their apparels are pretty good overall (but don't expect a 2pound T-Shirt to feel as good as a 100pounds Tee made-of-holymolyblahblahblacksheepwool lah). Although they offer free worldwide shipping, it takes around 2-3 weeks to be delivered so this might be a little bit of the turn off for guys cause most of my guy friends can't delay their gratification for nuts, no offense peeps! <3 But basically, I would probably say ASOS is one of the best place to bargain-hunt for cool stylish apparels at a much cheaper price as compared to the local market.

#1: The Varsity Jacket Look

I know the weather is being a bitch nowadays but that doesn't mean you can't have a jacket right? Besides, every guy needs a nice jacket for the boring lectures in the freezing lecture hall plus having a nice jacket gets you ready for the emergency situation whereby your date is freezing in the cinema and you get to take off your nice manly jacket for them. *insert cheekyface*

Varsity jacket helps inject life into your boring plain/graphic tees and jeans/chinos outfits. You can also pair it with your patterned/checkered shirts underneath if you're more experimental with patterns and layerings.

Alternatives to complete the look:
(zomg I swear varsity jackets cost a lot more when I was looking around to get mine.)

New Look Bomber Jacket in Sports Nylon £16
Who doesn't want a Nylon Sports Jacket that will look more expensive than how it actually cost?

An easy to match piece would be this black colored cotton-blended piece. Goes well with almost every outfit.

This is the piece that really caught my eye! Love how it incorporate the denim material into the jacket. But you guys should probably be warned that the grey sleeves (which is the lighter shade as compared to the denim) will make your arms look bigger, so guys with flabby arms should probably consider the other two that I've mentioned previously.

ASOS Shirt In Short Sleeve With Tartan Mid Scale Check £10

Checkered Shirts are coming back into the scene and this piece is definitely a steal at just £10! I know the weather is hot but do consider wearing some short-sleeve shirts instead of t-shirts everyday as wearing a shirt can really help makes it look like you did make en effort to dress up. For guys who are bothered by the white buttons, you can easily get the buttons changed at a local alteration shop for just $2-$4.

ASOS Check Shirt In Short Sleeve  £10

Pull&Bear Skinny Fit Jeans in Acid Wash £16
I totally love the fading on this jeans! I will probably get a dozen of this if I have the legs to wear them(which I sadly don't). You can also DIY to add on the rip jeans effect on this pair and I believe it's going to look even more badass \m/
p/s: jeans will be kinda elastic/stretched as it's made of the cotton-denim blend so people who don't like body-hugging clothes should probably skip this and head to the slim section.

New Look Jeans In Skinny Fit £12

ASOS Plimsolls With Toe Cap £12
Personally I will prefer to get footwear that cause a little more because comfort really matters to me and I don't want to risk the possibility of walking around town in a bad pair of shoes hurting my feet. That being said, consider getting a canvas shoe from converse or vans if your budget allows. But in any case if you're looking for a cheap pair or white canvas shoe, this can be a pretty good alternative with it's clean design. I like the contrasting stitch which adds on t the whole schoolboy look.

Alright, writing this post is taking it's tow on me. I need t go grab some comfort food to recharge for the lost brain juice and calories from moving my fingers typing this post. So thats all for this post on budget shopping at ASOS! The last time I checked these pieces still have sizes left so do act fast and grab them if you're interested to! Having said it all, pardon me for all the grammatical errors, please feel free to disagree with my choices and feel free to leave the page. no hate xx.

Not sure how I should go about starting this post. There's just so much negativity overwhelming me but I don't want to smear it all over other's computer/smartphone's screen. I know the sun is still shining bright and I shouldn't be so depressed yet but I am. Period.

Reading has always been a kind of enjoyment to me. I enjoy reading books because it gives me the chance to live through the many lives of others, seeing things in the world I will never get to see from my current perspective. I learnt a lot of things and I really appreciate all the positive things that reading bring about to my life. But today, I'm feeling more on the dark negative down side.

There's this one particular book I got recently which interest me so much I know I had to finish it in one sitting. I did, and it killed me. So much similar feelings from the book that I can relate with. I can't even stop thinking about it now. It makes me even sadder when I read about the happy parts in that book because I know these are the things that are never going to happen on me. I wish I had someone who could understand these feelings of mine, but I should probably not think about that because wishing for something gives you hope, and hope crush people sometimes.

I tried being positive; looking at the good things in my life, being thankful for them, but that doesn't mean I can just overlook all the bad things/empty spaces here and there, can I? Why do I feel so helpless at the running of my own life?

Guess I will stop here before my negativity spreads to anyone else even through the protection of their gadget's screens.

Here's a sad song for the other unhappy souls out there. Till next time! blaaaaaaaah.

#GuysWardrobe: Camou Prints

Okay, maybe I should give it a shot at doing a "fashion" post first cause I've quite a number of friends asking me on opinions how to incorporate an camou print into their outfits. Most of them thinks that camo is too loud, and they have difficulties convincing themselves that they will look good in it and the only number 4 they need is the SAF uniform so here's a my little opinion on how you can wear your camo and hopefully it will help give you a better insight! :)

When you think about camo prints, your mind probably wonders to the military NSFs. But camouflage is actually a quite versatile style that can be worn with a variety of apparels that will have you coming off looking great. As guys are opening up their wardrobe to welcome all the different types of prints, camo is no denying as one of the up and raising trend in mens fashion.
Of course it all depends what it is you are wearing that is camo. You will obviously wear different garments with short, pants, and shirts that are sporting the camouflage pattern. Here is a list of how you can tackle the camouflage look no matter what kind of camouflage garment you are wearing:
•    Camo shirts: If you are fond of wearing camo shirts them you need to get yourself some cargo pants or slim chinos. Cargo pants complement the look of a camo shirt very nicely and you can go with a couple of different colors too. Black will probably look the best but if that is not your style you can also go with a darker color green or sometihng neutral like cream/khaki. Another option for camo shirts is a nice pair of blue jeans. The jeans can be any dark color you prefer and as long as it's not too light in the color you should be alright.
•    Camo Jackets: One thing about jackets is that they are super hot and the weather in Singapore certainly doesn't make it any easier for one to don one. However, Camo jacket is always a good choice of outer to add some playfulness in your plain outfits. Guys who are more confident can also mix with other print shirts such as floral or plaids as long as neither pattern is too eye-catching or brightly colored. Trust me, you want to look street-style cool, not a walking hot mess.
•    Camo shorts: Camo shorts are being seen more and more these days and they too can be paired with a couple of different things. A black short sleeved t-shirt will look great with camo shorts and if you want to you can even wear a Polo style black collared shirt. If you are simply looking for an ultra-casual look you can always go with a black tank top.
•    Camo pants: Camo pants look good with a black or other dark colored t-shirt or a black or other dark colored long/short sleeved shirt. If your camo pants is a bit on the baggy side then stay away from shirts that have collars as they look a little too dressy for the camo pants. Otherwise, slim fitting camo pants do go well with dark colored or white plain tops.
•    Shoes: The type of shoes you will want to go with will depend on what it is you are wearing that is camo. With camo shirts you can wear boots if you are wearing longer pants. If you are wearing camo shorts, you can get away with a dark colored sneaker/shoes or even flip-flops if you are simply going casual. Just go simple with your footwear, you dont need a fully studded bling shoe to show others youre cool. Camo pants go perfectly well with boots(eg, Dr Martens, Red Wings, Palladium or any other combat boots) .
•    Hats: If you are wearing camo pants or shorts you can cover your head with a camo hat as well. However, if you are wearing a camo shirt, then you will want to avoid a camo hat and just go with a dark colored hat as the hat and the shirt being camo will not be offset by anything the way a solid dark shirt will offset camo pants and a camo hat.

Here are some camo outfits I found online(Credits to google):

Hey there!

This blog has been around for a number of years, way before blogger began using google account for login(yes that old), but I had to archive the old posts cause everything posted previously was too personal and depressing I might say. Was browsing thru the archives, looking back seems so far away. Am glad I didn't delete them in the past, at least I still get to reminisce the past and miss the old foolish me.

Kinda triggered my motivation to start blog again after read an article on thought catalog about the things I ought to stop doing to myself. Not gonna lie that I'm still guilty of many of the things listed. Am I upset? Not really, maybe a little. It's mostly regrets about the things I ought to do and stop doing. Won't try t go further and explain how I feel cause I suck at putting my feelings into words so here's the link, go read it and reflect upon yourself. I figured I will want t feel good about my 20s when I'm older so I'm keeping up with blogging.
The article said something like "yolo, take more unnecessary photos", & I took it up to myself and shamelessly define them as selfies so I'm taking up their advice but I don't think people on Instagram will really like t see my stupid face and the yummy food they can't have so I figured this will be a better alternative to offload my shameless selfies and yummy foodporn with feeling guilty as charged (yayyy *insert 3 cheers*).

Anyway, I'm back at this space, please pardon all the grammar mistakes and poor sentence structure cause in not a very language kinda person.
Hopefully my enthusiasm will last me! Till next time! 😘😘😘
